Tommy Robredo, who could be excused for being another to hit the injury list due to ridiculous scheduling, has fought hard and has made at least the third round at his past 4 tournaments in the space of less than a month. He has travelled from the USA to Spain, to Monaco back to Spain, then to Italy and now Germany and has had little preparation time after falling to Roddick only two days ago in the quarters at Rome. He has lifted his workrate immensely and his back to his accurate best - relentless defense on the groundstrokes, brisk returning and superb movement on the dirt. His serve has been a little down, but has still been hard to break because he is so consistent from the back of the court. Kohlschreiber, Germany's main hope in this tournament, competed well in Monte Carlo where he should have dispatched Davydenko in the 3R before falling to a respiratory infection that forced him out of his home Munich event. Kohly has a very decent serve when it lands, is more forceful and aggressive from the back than Robredo and has a trademark backhand that he will look to use to good benefit here. He defeated Baghdatis here last year, has won 13 of 18 inside Germany since April last year, and might just have the fresher legs. I think Kohly have a good chances, so my pick is 3-setter match for him.
