The most famous Belgian club will start their odyssey in Champions League on home ground against Belarus champion, Bate Borisov who easily handled Valur in the first qualifying round. Belarus side certainly can’t measure up to Anderlecht’s rank but the teams from this country are famous for nurturing talented players who see European matches as an escape to the better life. Last season Anderlecht were left behind Standard but they played excellent in the second part of the season and managed to get hold of the second place and win the Belgian Cup. The ambitions are higher now, the team simply wish to regain their dominance in domestic championship and also to get to the group stage where they more or less, were regular in the last four years, though without any success.
