After the first leg ended 2-2 the Turkish champions have it all to do in an all or nothing match in Bucharest Wednesday night. Steau started the first leg pressing and took by surprise Galata, soring 2 lucky goals in just 15 minutes. But after that there was only one team on the field until the 75th minute when the lack of official matches for the showed, while Steaua also made a good chance moving Radoi to the defensive midfielder position where he is more useful to this team. Since the first math not much has changed for the Romanian side, Goian and Ovidiu Petre had some problems but are fit to play. The only change which happened to the team is that chairman Becali ordered an offensive team and forward Bogdan Stancu in the team following him scoring 2 goals against Bistrita this weekend. This is a poor tactical choice, as Stancu replaces a defensive midfielder, Lovin and Ovidiu Petre will be the only man in front of the defence. Galata showed plenty of times in Istanbul that if Radoi is in the defence the midfield is easily passed and crosses are very dangerous. Since 2 weeks ago, Kewell recovered and made 2 great matches for Galata, one in the Super Cup where he entered in the second half, scored a goal from his first touch, and set up another one. The second game Kewell showed his class was in the Turkish Super Liga with Denizlispor won 4-1. I consider Umit Karan as the single important absence from Galata, but Nonda showed he is more than capable to score goals against Steaua in the first leg. Oh and I forgot about Hasan Sas, but Arda and Kewell are good enough. The stadium will be packed, supporters will expect an win and a qualification, but things are much more difficult, Galatasaray is better, and Steaua only had chances to progress if they played like the last 15mins in Istanbul, still the coach Lacatus under pressure from the chairman Becali chose this offensive team and will pay the price. The funny part is that when Steaua will lose to Galata the chairman will blame the coach and fire him :). Romanian teams don't have enough class for this level, and it would be shame for football if Steaua will qualify to the Champions League, CFR Cluj is bad enough to get us embarassed like in past years, this country doesn't need one more.
