Mechelen suffered a bad defeat at Lokeren 1-2 and now they will look to react on this cup game against Gent. On the way to the finals KV Mechelen defeated respectively Mopertingen (2-0), Charleroi (2-5) and Westerlo (3-2 and 0-0). AA Gent played against White Star Woluwe (3-1), Germinal Beerschot (1-0) and Club Brugge (1-4 and 1-0). Both teams have a history in the cup. KV Mechelen took the cup in 1987 and was finalist four times: in 1967, 1991, 1992 and 2009. AA Gent won the trophy twice 1964 and 1984. In 2008, they lost to Anderlecht in the final. KV Mechelen can count back with Alois Nong, who returned from Cameroon after he visited his sick mother. Tom Soetaers is eligible to play for the first time.
